Do you ever...

.
...read a sex scene and just wish the author hadn't bothered?

All the time, especially if it's one of an endless stream of page after page of sex. :)

Yes, just like Jen. :) I start to skim to see if there's a plot holding the sex scenes together...

Oh yes. Usually these are the times I wish I hadn't bothered with the whole book.

LOL - so I just commented but now I have to comment again, because the new word verification that popped up is priceless: it's "mated". =D

Nicole - how appropriate. lol

Jenre & Chris - the book I'm reading at the moment is good apart from a couple of niggles. One of which is that the sex scenes read - 'And then...', 'And then...', 'And then...'.

I wish there had been a fade to black and an immediate return to the plot.

Oh my word, YES. In my experience I don't respond well unless they're done just right.

Hell, yes. I tend to skim sex scenes a lot of the time. They just seem so prescriptive, ie insert A into tab B. *yawn*

Yes, and I hate to say, but it's the "In Death" books where it happens most. I love the books and I know that Roarke and Dallas have a great sex life, but I don't need to read it in every book. We can take it as read (ha!) that they're hot and heavy together in the bedroom; the stories wouldn't be diminished in any way and I wouldn't have to skip entire sections.

Angie - Yep it can definitely be an individual thing.

Kris - lol

Darlynne - Sometimes you just want to get back to the plot.

Often. It really makes me angry to a bad sex scene. I don't like sex in a book just to say you have sex in it unless it's a book of porn where you expect it to be.

Scooper - better to have no sex scene than a bad one.
